I made up my own newborn to 3 months pattern and thought I share, in case you would like to donate some too, or make some for a baby in your circle.
Baby sock pattern 0-3 months
Material:
Sock yarn really just a few yards. Great leftover project. Sorry haven't measured how much exactly
Size 2.5mm needles (I use dpn's you could do them with magic loop)
Scissors
Needle to sew in ends
Beginning of Round marker.
Abbreviations:
(I made them links to tutorials, in case you need some help)
Instructions:
Cast on 32 stitches with the knitted cast on. (8 on each needle) Close to round. Place beginning of Round marker.
Rounds 1-5: k1 p1 around
Rounds 6-15: knot all stitches method.
Short row heel, worked in rows over the next 16 stitches only!:
Row 1: k 15 stitches, wrap and turn (w&t)
Row 2: p 14, w&t
Row 3: k 13, w&t
Row 4: k12, w&t
Continue in this manner untill you have 5 wrapped stitches on each side.
Next row: k to first wrapped stitch, knit wrap together with stitch, wrap the next stitch and turn.
Row 2: pur to fist wrapped stitch, purl stitch together with wrap, wrap next stitch and turn.
Row 3: knit to next wrapped stitch, knit stitch together with both wraps, wrap next stitch and turn
Row 4: purl to next wrapped stitch, purl stitch together with both wraps, wrap next stitch and turn.
Continue until all wrapped stitches are worked up. The last Row will be a knit Row. Continue on over the rest of the stitches (knit all 32)
You will work in rounds again from here on out.
Round1-14 kall stitches.
Toe:
Round 1: ssk, k6, repeat around (28 stitches)
Round 2: ssk, k5, repeat around (24 stitches)
Round 3: ssk, k4, repeat around (20 stitches)
Round 4: ssk, k3, repeat around (16 stitches)
Round 5: ssk, k2, repeat around (12 stitches)
Round 6: ssk, k1, repeat around (8 stitches)
Cut yarn and thread through all live stitches. Take stitches off needles as you go. Cinch the toe closed, push needle through the middle of the cinch to the inside and sew the tail in on the inside of the sock. Sew in beginning tail.
Make another sock like it.
If you like mirrored decreases on the toes,, because of symmetry: instead of doing ssk, k x stitches in the beginning of the needle, do k x stitches, k2 tog when you come to the toe.
Happy knitting. Keep those tiny toes warm! ❤
