How are the holidays treating you?
We are done with all our shopping for this month (both gifts and groceries) and now just stay home. I must say it does reduce the holiday stress.
I am strangely aware of how close to the end of the year we are. That's not usually the case for me this early in December.
I figured I make good use of this by trying to finish off as many ufo's as I can before the new year.
First was a clamshell pillow.
I have been wanting to try my hand at this for a while. I finally succumbed the siren song this past November.
I went through my stash, cut all the pieces and read as much as I could about how to proceed, did a few preliminary layouts, so I would have an idea where I wanted what, and went to task.
I quickly came to the realisation that none of the tutorials worked for me. It was awkward and fiddly and I do not like that at all. So I put the project aside.
I kept thinking maybe it is because it is new to me and the more I work with it, the better it will get.
I tried. I really did, but nothing worked.
Finally I gave up trying to work like other people and sort of smooshed a bunch of different tutorials together. Kept the things that worked and "deleted" the stuff that wasn't.
After I figures out how *I* work, it took a total of two days to finish this pillow.
I will put a little something together next time I make one. Maybe it will give other people some ideas for their own way of making clamshells. They are quite fun, once you figure out how to work them your way!
As usual, this was all made from recycled, reclaimed or thrifted fabrics and notions and all hand sewn.
More for to come. I got thw entry way rug done and a third one is close to completion. So buckle up.
Here we go! Lol
Wishing you all a happy and stress free time.
Stay safe, stay kind, know you are loved. ❤
